August 23, 2010, The Shawnee County Commission took $2.1 million of the City of Topeka’s allocation of State Motor Vehicle Fuel Taxes to divert to Shawnee County Government. Shawnee County Government does not spend a dime on Topeka streets.

August 26, 2010, The Shawnee County Commission increased funding for Rossville, Silver Lake, and Auburn. Topeka was sitll left with $0 from the County Commission.

NOT SO FAST!

City of Topeka’s street budget has been gutted by $2.1 million for 2011 and indefinitely after a long standing state law requiring the distribution was side-stepped by the County and denied the legislated payment of $5.5 million in underpaid tax disbursements due in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016
